Our Story

ExpensePlus is an easy to use cloud-based fund accounting package that is specifically designed for Churches and Charities.

ExpensePlus all started because we were trying to simplify, streamline and improve our own charity’s financial processes.

Our charity used to waste so much time with inefficient paper-based financial processes, such as filling in paper expense forms, getting approval signatures, printing and filing paper receipts.

As a result of not processing our expenses and payments digitally, we then had to pay a bookkeeper to key all of this data into our finance package to create monthly accounts.

Reports were paper-based or in a PDF format – which meant that they weren’t drillable or customisable; you either got nothing or you got everything.

Budget holders had no way of viewing expenditure in a detailed real-time way, and consequently could take very little ownership of managing expenditure.

Like most Churches and Charities our financial reports were largely historical records, rather than providing up-to-date information that enabled our team to proactively make better decisions.

Some of these issues sound familiar right?

Whilst there are software packages that help businesses to streamline their financial processes, these are not suitable for Churches and Charities who needed a fund accounting package with SORP compliant year-end reports, and donor and Gift Aid management.

So what is the equivalent for Churches and Charities, that's affordable, and that has all the features that Churches and Charities need? Well there wasn't one, and that's why we built ExpensePlus!
